Tips For Writing a Travelogue

Travel writing is quite a popular genre. People take the help of the travelogues to know about a particular place before deciding to visit it. Travel writing generally gives detailed information about the attractions of a place so that people get tempted to go there on their vacations. Hence, writers involved in travel writing should follow some specific rules to make their travelogues more appealing and interesting to the readers.

Research about the Place

Before writing about a particular destination make a thorough research of it. If you are able to go to the place then it gives you a first hand experience about it. You could find for yourself what the place is all about. You could even ask the local people about its legends and other information related to that place. You could tour all over the place and find out for yourself all its hidden secrets that would attract a tourist bent on having fun. Hence, you could build up quite a reliable picture in your travelogue. But, if you live quite far away from the place in question, then you must rely on other resources. First and foremost you should look up all the available information related to the place. You could look up books available in the library or you could serf the net. If you find some pictures of it then it could also help you a lot in your write ups as it would give you a clearer idea about the looks of the place. So, one must always do a thorough research and present a complete knowledgeable database for the readers.

Give a Photographic Description

Writers are artists. They present a picture through their words. Hence, show your artistic talent here by describing the place in such a complete manner that the reader actually visualizes it. Spin a beautiful picture so as to make the reader want to visit that place. If you could get a picture of it then you can take its help to give an apt description. So, giving a photographic description will make your travelogue that much more appealing.

Highlight the Various Attractions

In travel writing highlighting the various attractions is of paramount importance. The first thing that attracts a person to a particular place is its various appeals. A place may be very beautiful in its scenic beauty but until and unless it doesn’t give us any other attractions in the way of sports or any other thing, few people will be tempted to visit it. So, include in your travelogue all the available attractions of that place so as to lure maximum number of visitors to it.

Mention the Ways and Means to Reach the Destination

You have done your job of enticing the reader to visit the place with your travel writing. But, if the reader does not get the adequate information regarding the ways and means of reaching that destination then s/he may drop the plan to visit it altogether. Therefore, always try to include the various means by which one can easily reach the place. You could give the information regarding the airline details, train details, or any other detail that you deem necessary.

Name a Few Good Hotels

Once a person reaches her/his destination then s/he may have trouble locating all the good hotels in that place. So, you could help your readers out of their bewilderment by naming a few good hotels for their benefit. And while you are naming the hotels then make sure that you choose hotels for all the economic classes. Hence, you could mention some star hotels for the rich and the powerful. Good hotels for the middle class segment. And some cheap lodgings for the lower middle class people. Thus, your travelogue would help people from all segments of the society and will be greatly popular in its effect.

Mention Some Out of the Way Tourist Attraction

To give your travelogue that specific edge you should try to include some out of the way tourist attractions. These tourist attractions could be anything from a visit to the local winery or some bargain or elusive items sold at the local market. So, do your homework properly if you want to excel in travel writing.

Give Some Cultural Background

Giving some cultural background of the place makes your travelogue richer in its content. People like to know the background and culture of a place they are planning to visit. It gives them a distinctive idea of what to expect from that place. It also helps them in their choice of clothes, accessories, etc. So, do remember to include this little bit of information in your travel writing.

Mention Some Dos and Don’ts of the Place

And lastly mention some dos and don’ts of the place so that a person does not make a cultural mistake there. Say a person is planning to visit the Middle East. Then s/he should wear very decent clothes and reserve all the affectionate behavior for the private. Again people should avoid asking for beef in a Hindu country like India or pork in a Muslim country. Hence, knowing the dos and don’ts of a particular place makes a person abide by all her/his etiquettes while fully enjoying the sights and sounds of that place.

We hope that you will benefit from these tips and become a good travel writer yourself.

The History and Evolution of Extreme Sports

From barrier breaking auto-racing to the calm and peaceful game of golf, the world of games and sports has always been exciting. While the masses enjoy commonly watched sports such as tennis and soccer, there are many people who are involved in sports that do not have much fan following. Yet, even those sports are enough to fascinate the athletes and audience alike. For instance, kayaking is not a very common sport yet you can find a lot of shops with Kayak accessories and kayak hardware.

There is one kind of sport that is although very popular but only few people are courageous enough to be a part of it as a professional athlete – the extreme sports. The true definition of extreme sports is hard to find, yet it can simply be categorized as a sports or activities that are associated with the adrenaline rush that is felt by the athletes and the audience as well.

Extreme sports are also referred to as action sports or adventure sports because they mostly fulfill the thirst for thrill and adventure. These sports can take participants to the edge of their physical and psychological extreme. Also, these sports involve a very high risk of fatal injury. However, every sport that involves a high risk of injury might not be extreme.

The term extreme sports is said to be coined by the highly publicized TV event, The X games. However, the origin of such games links back to simple games and sports. The extreme enthusiasts usually add new and risky techniques and maneuvers in existing sports to make it more thrilling for them and exciting for the audience.

Skateboarding, which is a common and popular activity around the neighborhoods of America, was taken to extremes by performing extraordinary maneuvers at unimaginable heights and dangerous terrains. Similarly, extreme enthusiasts took the typical bike and BMX ride and turned the activity into extreme sports such as dirt biking and extreme BMX.

The scope of going extreme in a sport is not limited to being land but also in the sky and water. Sky diving, paragliding and bungee jumping are some of the most favorite sports of this kind. Plus, hiking is also taken to the next level by climbing the most impossible places such as glaciers and high mountains.

Water gliding, surfing and paragliding are only few of the sports that take the participants to the extremes of their physical and mental endurance. Other water extreme sports include canoeing and rafting against speedy raging rivers.

As apparent in most sports of this kind, these sports do not need any special ground or conditions. Rather, they are played in a natural environment with virtually no or very less safety gear and equipment. Today, there is a new breed of extreme sports that relies totally on human physical capabilities and the ability to transform the body into an extreme machine. A popular example of these activities is free running in which participants jump and run with nearly super-human skills.

7 Tips For Punta Cana Vacationers

Punta Cana is located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic in the heart of the Caribbean. It is known for luxury accommodations tastefully blended into its beautiful natural surroundings. It has become quite popular for a quick warm winter escape for people in Canada, Europe, and the United States. They come by the thousands to bask in the Punta Cana when it is wintery cold in their own countries.

If you are contemplating a vacation to Punta Cana, I want to pass along 7 travel tips that will make your stay more enjoyable:

Avoid Taking a Taxi If You can

There is nothing particularly wrong with the taxis in the Punta Cana area but the rates can be exorbitant. For a comparison, a faire that will only cost $4 -$5 in Santo Domingo (the capital city of the Dominican Republic) may cost you $20 – $40 in Punta Cana!

To avoid taxis, try to negotiate with your travel agent for an airport transfer, both coming and going, to be included in the package deal — many are and if you shop it, you should be able to find this. If you take an excursion to one of the parks or islands, be sure to ask the tour operator if the cost of the excursion includes picking you up at your resort or hotel and bringing you back — again, many do so you should be able to find this. You can also rent a car for a reasonable fee instead of a taxi. Many of the big name car rental places are there: Avis, Budget, Eurocar, National, and Prestige. If you are seriously budget minded, you can also take the bus called the guagua which covers the entire Punta Cana coast and beyond. Buses run every 15 – 30 minutes. If you need to travel to Santo Domingo, be sure to look for the Bavaro Express.

How To Find the Whitest Beach

The most coveted beaches in the Dominican Republic seem to be the powdery white beaches — the whiter the better in my people’s book. Tourists love the beauty of these beaches and also how the silky fine sand feels between their toes. However, not all “Punta Cana” beaches are white.

What tourists often don’t realize is that what has now become known as the “Punta Cana” coast of the Dominican Republic runs for about 38-39 miles. This is the entire east coast of the Dominican Republic. The color of the sand varies significantly along this stretch. In general, the further south you go, the whiter the sand. The Punta Cana coast is shaped like an arrowhead pointing to the east. Where the arrow comes to a point is called El Macao. To the north of this point, the white sands start to turn more golden in color. This can be very pretty as well but if you are a true aficionado of pure white sand, you’ll probably want to look for a resort south of El Macao or find a resort on the southeast coast.

How To Get Through Customs More Easily

First, let me tell you some good news. Getting through customs at the Punta Cana Airport is much easier than the Santo Domingo Airport or other Caribbean Airports such as Cancun. With that said, however, there are some simple things you can do to lessen the chance you’ll have any kind of hassle going through customs.

As soon as you arrive in Punta Cana, you’ll need to get a “tourist card” which costs only $10 and you can get them at the airport before you go through customs. However, there can be a line for these so if you want to speed things up, try to get this included in your package deal so you will have a tourist card handed to you before you get off the plane. The customs agents can be a little picky about anything that could be construed as a “sharp object.” Items such as knitting needles and umbrellas can be considered “sharp objects” and can hold you up and may even be confiscated. Be sure to put these types of items in your checked luggage to avoid issues. Also, make sure all your prescription medications are CLEARLY labeled. There is a strict no tolerance for drugs in the Dominican Republic so you don’t want to give the customs agents any reason for concern. Another big “no-no: both coming in and going out is ANYTHING derived from plant material or animal parts. This can include hats made out of coconut fibers, shells, fruit, wood carvings, etc… These items will be confiscated and can make going through customs more lengthy than it need be. There are exceptions such as amber jewelry containing insect parts. The real concern is the spreading of insects and microorganisms across the border.

Stand Your Ground On Public Beaches

Officially, all beaches in the Dominican Republic are public. However, many of the resorts like to put up signs and patrol the beaches in front of their resorts as if they had a private beach.

When you are walking the beach, just know that you allowed to walk any of the beach and you should politely hold your ground should someone approach you and indicate otherwise. Just let them know you only intend to pass through.

Tipping Expectations & Giving Gifts To the Locals

It is expected that you will tip waiters and waitresses. 5-10% is considered the norm. Bartenders are often tipped $1 per round, sometimes more if the drinks are more complicated to make. Hotel maids are often tipped $2 – $5 per day and airport porters $1 per bag. It is also expected that you will tip tour guides as well. Guides usually get $5 for half day excursions and $5 – $10 for full day excursions.

It is also becoming increasingly popular to leave gifts for the locals. Candy, toys, and school supplies for kids is very popular. Books, make-up, and costume jewelry are commonly left. It is best that you check with the tour guides you go out with and the hotel staff to determine what might be most appropriate and most needed items to bring along as gifts. Remember this is a country that is a “third world” country with an emerging economy and there are many needs.

Find a Resort That Matches Your Needs

Different resorts cater to different needs. Some resorts cater to families with children. Others are “adult only” and cater to those couples who are looking for a romantic getaway without children under foot. Many resorts in the Punta Cana area follow the European customs. Some Americans like this but some don’t. If you don’t, be sure to find a resort that caters more to the American customs.

You may want to get a complete list of all activities offered at the resorts you are considering as this will often help make your decision on which one to choose much easier. Some resorts offer better activities for the kids — some are supervised and some are not. Some offer sailing, surfing, wind-surfing, dancing, scuba, and other very desirable classes. Some have activities such as horse-back riding and dune buggies that others do not. Some resorts are better designed for the handicapped and others with special needs.

How To Take Punta Cana Excursions

Most resort vacation packages include some opportunities to take excursions away from the resort. Most are very simple such a boat ride out to a reef for snorkeling or to take a catamaran cruise to an island. However, the hotel tours are almost never the way to have the best adventure outside your resort. Local fishermen and other locals also often offer to take tourists out on their boats. These can really be hit or miss, more often miss unfortunately. You should also be aware that these locals are almost never licensed or bonded so if something were to happen, you’d be stuck.

You will have a much richer and memorable experience if you take Punta Cana excursions with an experience tour operators who specialize in providing excursions. Your excursion will also be much safer. The excursions that get the highest acclaim are those that offer eco-adventures where you really get to explore nature and culture in depth with people who truly care and have a deep knowledge and appreciation for the wildlife and people of the area. Take at least one of these types of excursions and compare them to what the resorts have to offer and the difference will become obvious to you.

Become a Stripper – Is It Worth It to Travel?

Every stripper in town will tell you that summers are notoriously slow. Inevitably, the conversations in the dressing room then begin to revolve around traveling to another city to work. I’m sure you’ve heard, or participated in one of these conversations:

Barbie: This club sucks. I’m going to Vegas. I heard Suzie went to Vegas and made a grand every night she worked.

Brandi: Yeah, I talked to Suzy too, but I heard she only made a grand one night and the other two nights she barely made her house fee back. Vegas is so over-rated. But I heard Dallas was the new hot spot, lots of guys with oil money!

Sapphire: I’ll go to Vegas for fun and work a couple nights, as long as what I make pays for the trip.

Barbie: I’ve got two kids, If I go ANYWHERE, I HAVE to make more money than here after I pay for my hotel and plane ticket.

Brandi: I also read on the internet that Alaska has tons of guys and no hot girls, maybe we should go there!

Sapphire: Is there other stuff to do in Alaska besides work?

Brandi: I heard about this booking company that will pay for your hotel and airfare, but they send you to places in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes I wonder if it ‘s even worth the expense of traveling!

Three Strippers, Three different Viewpoints. Whether or not it is worth the cost of traveling depends entirely on YOU. There are pros and cons to traveling, be sure to weigh them before you pack your bags.

If you are profit minded like Barbie, realize that traveling may not be the best solution. Even though Vegas has the allure of hitting the strip club jackpot, the clubs are oversaturated with girls. The overhead costs of traveling also add up to more than hotel and airfare; you also need to have money for cab fare or a rental car, and also for food/beverages. Las Vegas has the lowest overhead travel costs from Phoenix. If you book your trip 14 days in advance you can fly round trip for $120, rent a car for $20/day ($170/week with taxes and insurance) stay at a large casino hotel like Stratosphere for $40/night ($250/week).

If you are frugal and hit the grocery store instead of the 24-hour casino diner you can maintain a food/drink budget of $20/day ($140.) I know that’s a lot of numbers I just threw at you, and if you don’t want to do the math just trust me….I was an algebra teacher before I decided to become a SuperStripper. If you have been doing the math with me, the total cost for this week long trip is $680. Other cities, like Dallas are much more expensive.

Airfare to Dallas runs $250, a standard hotel room in a safe area will cost $80/night ($560/week) and rental cars are over $250/week for the economy class. So assuming you stick to a food/drink budget of $20/day; your week-long strip trip to Dallas would cost $1200. In comparison, a basic hotel room in Manhattan is $150/night, and round trip cab fare is at least $25/night. Once you include airfare and food, a week in the Big Apple can set you back at least $1500 (and I challenge you to only spend $20/day on food and drink in Manhattan!)

If you are a fact finder like Brandy, you have probably already scoured the internet for the best information. Free online forums have a treasure trove of knowledge about most every club in the country. There are also booking agencies like will arrange for one way transportation and lodging. This is a little bit different than being an ordinary house dancer in a major metropolitan area. Unlike Vegas and Phoenix where you only have to show up when you want to…once you sign the contract you are expected to work every night of the booking.

If you are footloose and fancy free like Sapphire, the world is your oyster! One of the greatest perks of being a stripper is that you can work ANYWHERE! If you aren’t concerned about making MORE money during your travels then you would at your home club, what are you waiting for? Pick a city you’d like to visit, look up the strip clubs and go!

Travel Writing – Write in the Third Person

If you are writing travel articles than consider what is best to enable you to get the maximum possible opportunity for getting your articles published. One of the tips to consider is that of whether to write in the first or third person.

There are some clever and popular travel writers, for sure. Some of them are household names. Others are new and inspiring. These people find it easy to write in the first person. They say “I did this” or “I did that.” Their articles are of a high standard.

However, it can be difficult to write in this way and, especially if you are not established, it can be difficult for readers to connect with you. Frankly, people don’t always want to know what YOU did, what YOU ate and where YOU went. Your article is, after all, not an autobiography. It is a travel article.

People feel more comfortable when you talk and write in the third person (unless they know you or know of you). So, you would say, “proceed down Western Avenue” rather than “I proceeded down Western Avenue” and “try the duck in wine sauce” rather than “I had the duck in wine sauce.”

You are giving your reader a guide, a blueprint and an opportunity to loosely base their travel plans and experiences on the facts you can supply. You are not asking them to live a typical day in YOUR travel itinerary.

Allow your readers to experience the travel information you have in an objective and factual way. Write in the third person, not in the first.

Masturbation Clubs: An Erect Penis Adventure

A man with an erect penis and no partner nearby is very likely to end up engaging in a bit of masturbation, a thoroughly enjoyable activity that is usually quite satisfying. Yet sometimes a man may be a bit put off by the “solo-ness” of self-stimulation and may therefore enjoy exploring masturbation clubs as an option. The shared experience of masturbation clubs can be very stimulating. Of course, with one’s erect penis on display, a guy needs to practice good penis care to keep his organ looking its best. But what else does a man need to know about masturbation clubs?

Pick the right type.

The first thing a man needs to do is decide what type of masturbatory experience he is looking for. Does he want to recreate the “circle jerk” experiences of his youth and simply be around other men who are masturbating? Or is he more interested in a mixed experience, in which he can be aroused by the sight of women masturbating as well? This will determine if he chooses a males-only or mixed gender club.

Male-only masturbation clubs are typically called jack-off clubs; those which encourage participation from both genders are often known as jack-and-jill clubs. (There are, of course, female-only clubs, but men are by definition not welcome in those.)

It may seem that straight men would be interested only in mixed sex clubs, but that’s not necessarily the case. Some men may feel uncomfortable masturbating in front of women and may feel more at ease bonding through a masturbatory experience at a males-only club.

Follow the rules.

Straight men interested in a males-only situation but worried about activities beyond masturbation should know that clubs have rules. These rules usually define what activities are allowed and what are not. Each club will have its own set of standards, but the following are some found at most typical masturbation clubs.

– Masturbation only. Although a masturbation club is by definition an environment in which there is heated arousal and sexual excitement, most emphasize that the only form of sex allowed is masturbation. One may be tempted to engage in or ask for oral sex or vaginal or anal penetration, but in most clubs this is not allowed. (If a person wants to ask a willing partner to their own home for these activities, that is a different story.)

What about touching or being touched by another person? Some clubs are fine with it, some have a “hands only on yourself” policy. However, whatever the policy, it’s important that such activity occurs only between two willing participants. No person should be touched (or kissed, etc.) without his/her consent.

– Keeps your clothes off. Again, this policy can vary, but most clubs require participants to doff their clothing before entering the main action area. (Often shoes or socks are allowed.) This is so participants don’t feel self-conscious. A person may observe and not masturbate, but if doing so causes a person to feel self-conscious, he or she should move on.

– Keep it clean. Hygiene is important, so men are responsible for cleaning up any ejaculate they spray upon the premises.

– Consideration is key. Being naked in front of other people can be a huge thrill – or it can be a challenge. Be mindful that all different body types will be on display and avoid being rude or judgmental about those with body types not consistent with one’s taste. Also, be aware that privacy is often an issue. If a man sees someone he knows at a club, be aware that that other person may not want to be acknowledged.

Masturbation clubs allow an erect penis to engage in its favorite activity in a new setting. Men should make sure their equipment is at its healthiest by using a quality penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil). Make sure dry skin is not an issue by using a crème that includes both a natural hydrator (like vitamin E) and a high-end emollient (like Shea butter). And a crème with a powerful antioxidant like alpha lipoic acid can help to offset harmful oxidative processes that can leave the penis looking wrinkled and aged. If it’s going to be on display, make it something to see.

Make sure your clothing isn’t too loose though or it can be hazard while you are climbing. Your shoes should fit properly and have plenty of traction to offer. Make sure they are double tied so your laces don’t come undone while you are enjoying this activity.

Some people like to have gloves on that allow them to have a better overall grip. You may find that is a good idea when you go rock climbing. Some locations offer shoe and glove rentals or they include those items in the cost of the activity. It is a good idea to find out before you show up so you can plan for what you will need. If you have any questions, make sure you ask before your begin the climbing process.

A Trip To Yelagiri Hills

It was a chilly morning on the 5th of Feb’ 2017 and everything around had an air of excitement as we headed to a hill station for a quick get away at the weekend. At just one beck & call, children were up and as excited they were about the adventure, got ready with their treasure of games.

With our sweaters and caps, we decked up ourselves and in a Qualis vehicle started our journey at 7am from Bangalore. The driver (hired taxi) was to be blamed for late-coming and we set off to join with a friend’s family.

Breezing past the highways of Bangalore and the hustle and bustle of the crowd, we soon found ourselves engulfed in the serene beauty of nature. The coconut trees, the plantains and the green pastures welcomed us on the route to Tirupattur. Gliding through 11 hairpin curves, we made it to the hilltops of “Yelagiri” and were mesmerized by the beauty and the calm. The fresh air filled our nostrils and we reached our destination by 11.30am. With the excitement at its peak, children longed to go for boating. The ‘Punganoor Lake Park’ offers paddle boating as well as row boating and the scenery around is breath- taking. We opted for Row boating and went the length & breadth of the lake. This was just the beginning as more adventures awaited at the “Wild Adventure Zone”. Here, the children lost themselves completely with numerous games – Archery, car riding, wall climbing, zip-lining etc. Before they could venture more, it was a much-needed lunch break. Having savoured the local specialties paddu, mirchi, vada and several varieties of fruits – litchi, jackfruit, bell fruit, panir, Guava, etc, we headed to a farmhouse. A beautiful place to unwind and the perfect place to rest was a huge room with 2 double beds that was kingly in size.

Children got their Shuttle bats and Frisbee to play, while two of us settled for chess on the cozy bed. Evening came, with a plan to the Murugan temple and Venkataramana temple, after which we had to go to the nature park. After fulfilling prayers to the deities, it was getting dark and we cut short the nature park to the musical fountain. With the colourful water sprinting to the songs of popular music, children had a good time munching candy and chips. After a long day, it was time to call it off with a quick dinner almost half asleep.

The next morning, we woke up re-energized for a much awaited trek to the Swamimalai Hills. With a cup of hot tea/coffee and bournvita, all of us tied our shoelaces with the trek pants and water bottles to climb up to the peak of these famous hills. Starting at 8.30am the way led us deep into the forest, surrounded by huge trees, with steps, rock stones and a muddy path. By 10 am, we successfully reached the peak to have experienced this feat of climbing the hills and feel the beauty around us. The happiness and the pleasure felt can only be experienced. Having spent almost an hour, eating snacks, biscuits, watermelon, papaya, raw mangoes, we took a bow at the temple and started our trek down the lane. Balancing the uneven ground, we reached around 12 p.m to the base.

It was time to check out from the farm house and we readily did so, because the next thing was the waterfall. Dreaming of waters in the hot afternoon, brought smiles on the children and at the same time they were tired of the long trek. The Jalagambarai waterfalls was situated around 40 km from Yelagiri and we fell asleep as soon as we headed our vehicle. The afternoon nap did wonders, as could be seen with children and adults equally excited to jump and soak in the falls. A neat flight of 80 stairs took us to the waterfall and everyone willingly drenched.

We returned from the falls and after a small tea break, we said ‘goodbye’ to Yelagiri and started back to Bangalore.

A wholesome family package with the best of refreshing change. Recommend anybody for a quick getaway (170 kms from Bangalore).
